FREDERICKSBURG, Texas – Harvey Keran Thompson, 84, of Fredericksburg, Texas, passed from this life to be with his Lord on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2023.
He was born July 25, 1939, in St. Joseph, the son of Harold and Nell (Forster) Thompson. He attended Central High School where he lettered in football and track, graduating in 1957. He enlisted in the Air Force, albeit underage, a memorable experience, attending boot camp in Texas during the summer (of which he regaled us of adventurous tales for years). He studied Business / Management at Creighton University and Ball State.
An entrepreneur and self-motivated businessman, he chose the trucking industry to make his mark. Rolling up his sleeves, he started as a dock worker at the family owned truckline of Crouch Bros., in Missouri. Over the years, he worked for various trucklines, climbing the corporate ladder. Then, achieving his goal, he became the owner of his own truckline, a very successful business, D.S.E., in Arkansas. Later, he sold his company, and accepted a position as President of Dean Foods, Inc., trucking division, in Illinois. After retiring from Dean Foods, he moved to Fredericksburg fulfilling his retirement dream.
He was a much loved and admired husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was our sage, provider of wisdom, support, kindness, patience, and love.
Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Nell Thompson, and his brother, Gary Thompson.
Left to honor and cherish his memory are his wife Deana Thompson; brother, Dennis Thompson (Vickey); sons, H. Kraig Thompson, Bret Thompson (Nancy) and Tyrone Thompson; daughters, Terri Blackstock (Peter) and Timber Black; and beloved daughter-in-law, Vicki Ford (his angel).
