GOWER, Mo. – Pamela Ann Galvan passed away Nov. 30, 2023, at her home in Gower, Missouri.
Pamela was born on Aug. 16, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois, to Roy and Georgia McGarrah. She was the eldest of five daughters, Pamela, Nancy, Maureen, Susan, and Tina. Her father was in the military and the family moved around quite a bit until eventually settling in St. Joseph. Pamela married Frank Galvan on May 27, 1969. They had two daughters, Jenniet and Andrea. Her daughter, Jenniet, lives in Doniphan, Missouri, and her daughter, Andrea lives in Encinitas, California.
Early in life she was a dog groomer and she would eventually become involved in showing her own dogs in American Kennel Club events locally and regionally. She graduated from Missouri Western State College with a degree in Psychology and went on to work as a medical technologist at Methodist Medical Center in St. Joseph.
She loved taking care of her dogs at home, reading Christian living books, and visiting with friends and family when they came to visit. She had an outgoing personality and never met a stranger.
Pamela was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Georgia McGarrah, as well as her sisters, Nancy Boatright and Susan Potter. She lived the last 30 years of her life with her husband, Frank, at their home in Gower.
Per her wishes, she was cremated with no formal funeral service although her daughter, Jenniet, did ask her parish priest, Father Daniel Robles, to offer a memorial mass in her honor which took place on Dec. 21, 2023. As published in the St. Joseph News-Press.
