Mid-week storm system prompts High Wind Warning, Winter Weather Advisory

High winds, rain, and snow are forecast to impact the Mid-Missouri River Valley Wednesday, as a strong storm system passes through the region.

A High Wind Warning will go into effect for all of Northwest Missouri and Northeast Kansas from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, March 19. High wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph are forecast through the warning period. Scattered power outages, and difficult driving conditions are likely as winds ramp up Wednesday.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Atchison, Holt, and Nodaway counties in Northwest Missouri, and Brown county in Northeast Kansas from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Wednesday, March 19. Snow accumulations of up to 1 inch are expected across the warning area. High winds and blowing snow could reduce visibility and make travel hazardous.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms early Wednesday will change over to wet snow through the afternoon. High wind gusts are likely through much of Wednesday, especially through the afternoon and early evening hours.
