The DeKalb County Historical Society is planning a reenactor presentation at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the June Conley Building, 701 E. Main St., Maysville, Missouri.

The DeKalb County Historical Society is beginning a new series of live presentations highlighting different topics.

The first "Experience History" presentation is by reenactor Anna Smith, portraying Massachusetts colonist Deborah Samson at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22, at the June Conley Building, 701 E. Main St., Maysville, Missouri. Samson disguised herself as a man and joined the Continental Army to fight for the independence of the United States. After the War, she traveled the country and told of her experiences in the military.

The cost to attend is $10 for adults ($7 for DeKalb County Historical Society members), and those 18 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased online at www.missouridchs.com, at the door or Lot Community Coffee and the DeKalb County Historical Society Museum in Maysville.

The presentation is a fundraiser for the historical society, and proceeds will be used for the preservation of Dekalb County history and future presentations.
