Former Judge John Boeh dies

A mainstay of St. Joseph's municipal court who served as both a prosecutor and judge for decades has died.

Former Judge John Boeh, 72, died on Feb. 5 in St. Joseph. He served as municipal court judge for 21 years until he retired from the bench in 2021. 

Before being elected judge, Boeh was the city prosecutor in municipal court and also previously served as a city attorney and public defender. 

Born in St. Joseph, Boeh graduated from Wathena High School and earned his bachelor's and law degrees from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas.

A private burial and celebration of his life will be held at a later date, according to his obituary.
