Emergency crews battled a fire in the the 200 block of N. Eighth St. on Monday morning. 

The St. Joseph Fire Department was called to the scene at about 5 a.m.

Officials said the fire was isolated to one apartment on the third floor of the apartment building and that the Red Cross will house those displaced. 

According to SJFD Fire Inspector Casey Crockett on Monday afternoon, one person was injured in the fire and transported to the hospital, however the severity of the injuries is unknown. 

As for the cause of the fire, Crockett said that the Department is still investigating.
