Youth Alliance highlights substance use prevention summit

The St. Joseph Youth Alliance announced on Monday that they are hosting a substance use prevention summit for area students.

According to a post from the Youth Alliance through social media on Monday, Feb. 3, "Attention freshman, sophomores, and juniors, Central High School SJSD, Benton Cardinals, Lafayette High School!!!! This is going to be an amazing experience! Talk with your school social worker today!"

The substance use prevention summit, titled "My Future, My Choice" is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21, at "emPowerU", located at 518 S. 6th St.

The summit will feature speakers, activities, games, break-out sessions and leadership skill building, students who are interested in attending the summit should contact their school social worker. 

According to the Youth Alliance, "Did you know that mental health and substance use are often connected? Let's get real and talk about how to support your friends and family while protection your own well-being. Learn how to stay strong, safe, and drug-free - because taking care of yourself and others starts with awareness!"
