Friends of the Animal Shelter and the St. Joseph Animal Shelter are looking to share information about a group of kittens through a new weekly program.

According to the Friends of the Animal Shelter's post through social media on Friday, Jan. 24 "Symphony’s kittens are 2 weeks old! How precious are these little fluff balls Momma Symphony continues to be an excellent mother, caring for her kittens around the clock and rarely leaving their side. During the second week of life...Kittens eyes are opening."

The Friends wrote that four of the five kittens have opened their eyes and that another kitten should be opening her eyes any day, so far the kittens that have opened their eyes have blue eyes but the Friends explained that the color will change as the kittens grow older.

According to the Friends of the Animal Shelter, the kittens mostly sleep or eat but they are starting to raise their heads, look around and prop themselves up by using their front legs. The kittens ears have begun to unfold however at this stage, the kittens rely on their sense of smell to understand their surroundings.

The Friends of the Animal Shelter said that Symphony and her kittens are not available for adoption or foster at this time however they plan to share updates about the family through Foster Fridays on their social media each week until the kittens are two months old at which time they can be fostered or adopted.

To keep up-to-date with Symphony and her kittens or to learn about other initiatives from the St. Joseph Animal Shelter visit their Facebook page at facebook.com/FriendsoftheAnimalShelterStJoe.
