No. 10: Carwash, QuikTrip catch consumer attention

Several new business openings in 2024 added variety to the choices of customers in St. Joseph, but two in particular generated big interest among residents.

The McBee’s Coffee N Carwash opening in August and looking ahead to the opening of the new QuikTrip building set for Jan. on Frederick Boulevard have been the talk of the town for several months.

McBee’s, located at 3016 N. Belt Highway, offers facilities to not only wash vehicles but also dogs, all while enjoying a cup of coffee. The business has eight locations in the Kansas City metropolitan area, and there are tentative plans to build a second location on the South Belt Highway.

St. Joseph’s first QuikTrip location, which was among 2023’s top stories when plans for the convenience store and gas station were announced, continued to generate high interest as construction got underway in 2024. The location on the southeast corner of Frederick and Interstate 29 is complete, and company officials told News-Press NOW residents can expect the doors to open in mid-January.
