The St. Joseph Host Lions Club is hosting its annual fruit sale to benefit the community.

The annual sale began on Friday, Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. and will run daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the former Golden Corral parking lot, 715 N. Belt Highway.

The club will be selling apples, oranges and grapefruits, from now until Sunday, Dec. 22.

Roger Unruh has been a member of the Host Lions Club for over 30 years and shared his favorite part of the annual sale.

“We really have a good time because we meet a lot of people that come back in and buy every year and it’s a wonderful time to visit with them,” Unruh said.

Unruh explained that, despite the cold, they will host the sale every day. He also asks for patience with people getting in and out of the trailer.

“We have lots of room for people to come in and get it,” Unruh said. “We’ve got two people in the trailer at all times, so be patient if there’s a line – lining up.”

The fruit sale proceeds will benefit several local organizations and will create scholarships for local students.
