Adopt-A-Family applications closing Friday

This is the last week for people to apply for assistance from the Adopt-A-Family program.

Those seeking to be adopted through the AFL-CIO program must have children ages 18 or younger in the home, be over the age of 63 or be actively receiving disability assistance.

Applications are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. People can apply in person at 1203 N. Sixth St. or online at helpmenow.org.

Those wanting to adopt a family can contact AFL-CIO Community Services at 816-364-1131.

There is still a need for donations to the program, including new toys, gift items and financial assistance. Those donating can drop items off at 1203 N. Sixth St.
