The St. Joseph YWCA is asking community members to think of area nonprofits and those in need this holiday season

Giving Tuesday, which falls on Dec. 3, is a nationwide annual initiative for community members to donate to area organizations. YWCA Executive Director Danielle Brown said her agency is happy to receive donations.

“Giving Tuesday is an initiative where individuals can give back to there community around the Thanksgiving holiday,” Brown said. “We’re putting it out there that this is an opportunity to give back.”

Giving Tuesday falls each year after Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Those interested in donating to the YWCA can drop off toys for Miracle on 8th Street at the Little Caesar’s, located at 3304 Ashland Ave., Colton Saunders with Edward Jones located at 2610 N. Belt Highway, and Don Tolly & Associates, located at 2606 N. Belt Highway.

The YWCA also is accepting toys for its Christmas Shop after Dec. 3 as well as any hygiene donations or “any other contributions that anyone feels moved to give,” Brown said.
