People interested in developing their leadership skills are encouraged to apply for a community betterment program.

Applications are being taken for the 43rd class of the United Way Leadership St. Joseph program. Almost 1,000 people have participated since 1982, and many have gone on to become leaders in the community and their organizations.

The year-long program starts with a two-day opening retreat on Jan. 9 and 10, then meets during business hours on the second Thursday of each month. Participants learn about opportunities and challenges in St. Joseph, network and develop a project while going through the program.

Tuition for each participant is $1,850 and class size is limited. Applications can be found at stjosephunitedway.org/leadership-st.joseph and should be submitted by 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15, to the address listed on the form.
