As temperatures lower, the need for warm clothes increases. In order to help the community, The Salvation Army is hosting its annual coat drive in order to provide coats, hats, gloves and more to those in need.

The Salvation Army is requesting coats of all sizes, especially children’s sizes, through Oct. 18.

Clothing must be clean and ready to be worn. The coats must also be in good condition with working zippers and attached buttons.

Coats, gloves, mittens and hats can be donated to The Salvation Army Corps Community Center, located at 602 Messanie St.

Distribution of the clothing will start on Oct. 21, running Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

In 2023, over 500 coats were given out to people in the community from The Salvation Army’s drive.
