Greater Than Financial and Sisters of Solace teamed up to host the annual S’mac Down macaroni and cheese cook-off Thursday evening at the Castle Bridge Event Center.

“Who doesn’t love macaroni and cheese, right?” said Trina Clark, executive director for Sisters of Solace. “We were just looking for something really unique to bring to St. Joe that would help support our program and be a lot of fun for the community to get involved.”

The event is for a good cause, but it does bring some friendly competition, offering a cash prize and some hardware.

“There is a trophy at stake for you professional competitors and, you know, bragging rights,” Clark said. “So it’s all in good fun and great to help us to help you promote your business as well.”

St. Joseph’s only competitive macaroni and cheese cook-off put the town’s professional and homestyle chefs to the test while raising funds for the nonprofit organization in its mission to provide shelter for women survivors of sex trafficking, trauma and addiction.

Sisters of Solace has a two-year program that provides the women with shelter, access to health care, GED preparation and a job creating body care products for the nonprofit.
