Constitutional Amendment 2 too early to call

By Jacob Meikel
Votes are still being counted for Missouri’s Amendment 2 proposition, which will decide whether or not it joins the more than three dozen U.S. states with legal sports wagering.
As of 12 a.m. statewide, the measure is at 50.5% “yes.” In Buchanan County alone, 55.8% voted “yes” for Amendment 2, while 44.2% voted “no.”
If passed, the amendment will allow sports wagering for individuals 21 and older physically located within the state to bet on sporting events, including online and in-person.
The measure would allot 10% of tax revenues generated by sports wagering to go towards education.
The Missouri Gaming Commission will be in charge of regulating licensed sports gambling provided the measure does pass.
