St. Joseph and the surrounding area appear to have welcomed 2024 without anybody getting badly hurt or worse in accidents, crimes and other mishaps.

In brief statements, the St. Joseph Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, and the Buchanan County Sheriff each indicated that there have been no reports of major incidents stemming from the New Year’s weekend. This could change if further information not currently known should develop.

“It was surprisingly uneventful,” said Capt. Jeff Wilson of the St. Joseph police.

The Highway Patrol logs all vehicle crashes on roadways throughout Northwest Missouri. Thus far, it has not reported anything from the last several days that caused serious injuries to a driver or passenger, and there have been no auto fatalities in the region for several weeks.

Anyone who has an incident to report can reach dispatch at 816-271-4777. Dial 911 in the case of any emergency.
