For children who didn’t want to stay up until midnight on Tuesday evening — New Year’s Eve, the East Hills Library hosted a day-time party instead.

The “Noon Year’s Eve” party at the library, located at 502 N. Woodbine Street, began at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 31, with a balloon drop at noon.

There were bubbles, dancing and snacks available for children of all ages.

However, the thing most kids, including eight-year-old Elowen Ripley, were looking forward to was the balloon drop.

”We came to the library and then we saw the balloons,” Ripley said. “I like balloons.”

The Noon Year’s Eve party has been an annual celebration for the last five years, and organizer Elizabeth Murray said she enjoys the experience every time.

”I love to see the kids get so excited about a new year, new opportunities,” Murray said. “And I love the balloon drop. The excitement on their faces when the balloons come down, it’s just a lot of fun.”

Five-year-old Virginia Ripley shared her plans for the remainder of New Year’s Eve after the party.

”We’re gonna go to our friend’s house and we’re gonna stay up ‘til midnight,” Ripley said.

The library has many upcoming events planned for people of all ages that can be found on their website.
