While some are out gathering candy on Halloween, chess lovers will find a treat of their own at a local library that evening.

Following its first chess tournament in June, the Rolling Hills Library is planning another U.S. Chess Federation-rated event on Thursday, Oct. 31. “The Frightful Fast Chess Frenzy” is free and begins at 6 p.m. in the Belt Branch community room at 1904 N. Belt. Those participating should show up early to find their spots.

It will be a blitz-style tournament with a double round-robin quad setting. Participants will be placed in groups of four or fewer and will play each other in two games per round. Players will have only five minutes on their clocks.

Spooky trophies will be awarded. Those interested can register and find more information at rhcl.org/website/event/11466278.
