Historical architecture buffs and lovers of the paranormal both have programs to look forward to next week at the Rolling Hills Library.

At 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, Shelly Haynes from the St. Joseph Museums will take a look at the life of Edmond J. Eckel, who was the architect of many of the city’s notable buildings. French-born Eckel came to St. Joseph following the Civil War, and it’s estimated he or his firms are responsible for 75% of the public and private buildings built in the city from the late 1800s to the early 1900s, including the Wyeth-Tootle Mansion.

On a more seasonal topic, Evan Hart and Ed Taylor, professors at Missouri Western State University, will discuss their podcast, “PhD Paranormal,” which explores “the spooky, the haunted and the occasionally laughable world of the paranormal and supernatural,” at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10. The program is for adults and teens.

Both talks are at the Rolling Hills Library Belt Branch, 1904 N. Belt. More information is available on the library’s website, rhcl.org.
