Fans warned of Super Bowl ticket scams

With the Kansas City Chiefs preparing for a historical third appearance in a row at Super Bowl LIX, state officials are warning fans to avoid fraudulent ticket sellers.
The state’s Attorney General Andrew Bailey is asking residents to be wary of any “too-good-to be-true” ticket prices as scammers are targeting excited fans.
“With the Chiefs heading to the Super Bowl, I want all Missourians to stay sharp when purchasing their tickets and avoid falling victim to scams,” Bailey said in a news release.
Tips to avoid fraudulent ticket sellers include knowing your vendor and purchasing through a trustworthy website. Businesses can be searched on the Better Business Bureau’s website.
Using credit cards also offers more protection than other methods of payment such as a debit card or mobile payment app.
A lock symbol should be displayed in the address bar next to the website’s URL to indicate it is secure.
The attorney general’s office also recommends physically inspecting tickets to verify the details match those of the actual event.
Anyone with a complaint regarding a ticket scam can contact the Missouri Attorney General’s consumer complaint hotline at 800-392-8222 or visit ago.mo.gov.
