Weatherizing homes before the cold hits

By Ashley Luthans
As temperatures start to dip, it is important to make sure your home is ready for the cold weather.
There are many ways to weatherize your home, including adding drapes or curtains around windows to prevent cold air from entering.
Something else that could help is replacing furnace filters before furnaces are in use.
Greg Eagleburger, general manager of Westlake Ace Hardware, also suggests sealing spots in your house that may let in cold air and bugs.
“As it gets colder it’s time to start looking for those gaps and cracks that you want to fill up to prevent air infiltration,” Eagleburger said. “You know in, kinda in between seasons we kinda let that stuff go and we don’t really pay attention to it, but, certainly when we start firing up those furnaces, you’ll wanna plug every air gap that you can just to prevent to keep your house warmer and to keep your bill down.”
