Two women died in a single vehicle crash in Andrew County on Saturday morning.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident happened at 10:15 a.m. as 70-year-old Christie Petersen of Sheridan, Mo., drove north on Highway 71, 22 miles south of Maryville, with 47-year-old Kelly Taute of Merced, CA.

Petersen reportedly traveled off the right side of the roadway and stuck an embankment, causing her 2006 Dodge Caravan to go airborne, before striking a roadway sign, hitting the ground and overturning.

Both Petersen and Taute were pronounced dead at the scene by the Andrew County coroner. Authorities say Taute was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
