Chiefs’ fans permanent dedication through tattoos

With Chiefs Training Camp in full swing, many fans will be repping their favorite team gear, but a few fans went above and beyond to show their Chiefs pride. A segment of the Chiefs’ kingdom favor a more permanent gesture of their love for the Kansas City football team.
“The reason why I got the Chiefs tattoo, I got it kind of close to my heart,” Chiefs fan Cassondra Sapata-Smith said. “Because they are, they have my heart. I got it after we won the first Super Bowl I was actually able to witness so I got that (tattoo) shortly after because I had to, obviously.”
Sapata-Smith’s dedication goes back to her childhood, despite her family’s objections.
“I’ve been a Chiefs fan since I was a toddler, even though I live in a household full of Raiders fans,” she said. “They absolutely hate it and they definitely hated it when I got the tattoo, but hey.”
Sapata-Smith and other fans have been dedicated to the Chiefs for years, even decades. Fans Keith Henry and Cody Tyler have been devoted Chiefs fanatics their entire lives. Henry said he has been a loyal fan to the team for his entire life, even before the team’s recent popularity.
“After our first Super Bowl championship, one of my friend’s tattoo shop opened up and was having a special on Chiefs tattoos, so I went and got a Chiefs tattoo after our first Super Bowl with Patrick (Mahomes),” Henry said.
Tyler’s dedication to the team has spanned over three decades, through the good and bad for the Chiefs.
“I got my Chiefs tattoo after the first Super Bowl win, and it felt good,” Tyler said.
One thing is for sure, if the Chiefs accomplish their coveted three-peat, the team can expect more dedicated tattoos next year.
