Due to the Cook Road Bridge rehabilitation project, Interstate 29 through St. Joseph will be closed for three days starting Tuesday next week.

From 4 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, to 4 a.m. on Friday, July 19, I-29 will be closed for construction as the Cook Road Bridge is redone.

The Missouri Department of Transportation shared the detour route for the closures.

“Southbound I-29 traffic must exit at I-29/I-229/U.S. Route 71 (EXIT 56B) and northbound I-29 traffic must exit at the I-229/I-29 (EXIT 43),” MoDOT said in a statement.

Through construction, I-29 will not be able to be accessed from five different exits: northbound from exits 47, 46A and 46B, and southbound from exits 53 and 50.
