A 4-year-old boy was transported to Children’s Mercy, and his status is currently unknown after nearly drowning at a Fourth of July party in Dekalb, Missouri.

The Buchanan County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a boy possibly drowning at 7:51 p.m. Thursday night, according to Sheriff Bill Puett.

Puett said the boy’s father and grandfather performed CPR until deputies arrived and took over. The family was attending a party around Southwest 36th Road, but they did not live at the residence.

Sherriff’s deputies left the hospital around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, and they hope to receive an update on the boy’s status today.
