Savannah police dog dies ‘after completing an overnight shift’

The Savannah Police Department declined to offer a statement Monday after it was announced this weekend that K-9 officer Horus had died.
Neither the police nor Andrew County prosecutor Monica Morrey would comment on the circumstances surrounding Horus’ death.
Savannah Police Chief David Vincent said no other details will be released until the investigation is complete.
“The Savannah Police Department, and the entire community, suffered a tremendous loss. K9 Horus passed away after completing an over night shift on patrol in Savannah,” Vincent said in a statement.
Morrey said she has looked into the case and is working to find more information.
“I have requested a special investigation through the Missouri State Highway Patrol and I am awaiting those results,” Morrey said. “When I receive those results, I will review and then make a determination if any action is necessary.”
