St. Joseph Aquatic Park reopens to delight of its visitors

Community members can make a splash after a local aquatic facility reopened Friday following some repairs.
St. Joseph Aquatic Park at 402 S. Noyes Boulevard reopened on Friday after a large pipe burst forced it to close on Saturday after the first session of the season. But less than a week later, it’s back in operation.
“The maintenance crew works hard in St. Joe,” assistant aquatic supervisor Kylie DeHook said. “They’re bouncing around to so many different complexes, parks, and they were here every single day from 6 a.m. till 12 p.m.”
DeHook said it was a team effort to get everything in order when the pipe burst.
“We got it shut down, and we had maintenance on scene within 30 minutes,” she said. “They were all proactive and ready to roll and help us get this place running again.”
Olivia Gowin was one of the first visitors to visit the Aquatic Park after it reopened on Friday. She recently moved to St. Joseph, and her girlfriend wanted to go swimming.
“It’s supposed to be like 92 degrees, I think today,” she said. “So perfect day to go swimming. It’s crazy that they got it done in less than a week, so it’s pretty cool.”
Another St. Joseph resident visited the park a couple of years ago with his son and was excited to bring him back.
“It was a fun experience,” Jacob Parker said. “He really enjoyed the waterfalls and stuff, so we’re here to enjoy ourselves. He’s ready to get in the pool.”
The Aquatic Park is open Monday through Saturday with one session from 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and a second session from 1:30 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. One session will be open on Sundays from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Krug Pool will be open Monday through Friday with sessions from 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
