Families find time for togetherness on warm Memorial Day

Whether it was playing on the playground, grilling out or engaging in recreational activities, families didn’t seem to mind the warm weather as they flooded area parks.
Bartlett Park was busy on Monday as families took the time to relax and take part in some of their favorite outdoor activities while enjoying good food.
St. Joseph students Remy Black and Chase Owens typically spend a free day out of school playing video games and streaming but today, they wanted to take advantage of the nice weather and catch up with friends.
“We decided to get out of the house for a little and ended up playing baseball with some awesome guys we met today,” said Black.
“I’m most excited about eating later, I’ve got some good food waiting for me at home,” Owens said.
Student Joshua Chiro met Black and Owens while bonding over baseball today and they all agreed that they would enjoy having more Mondays like today.
“I like school a lot too, but it was nice to sleep in this morning and come meet my family and make some new friends at the park,” Chiro said. “It’s what I expected, good weather and holidays always bring people together.”
Other people took the opportunity to get on the water with boats, jet skis, and kayaks but as residents continue to enjoy Memorial Day, it’s important to keep safety in mind.
