Downing Pediatrics opened a new Pediatric Urgent Care location in St. Joseph on Thursday, Feb. 20.

The facility, located at 1918 N. Woodbine Rd., had a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. on Thursday.

The primary care providers at Downing Pediatrics are Dr. Sibyl Downing and Dianne Castle, pediatric nurse practitioner, who combined have more than 40 years of experience in pediatric medicine.

PNP Castle said there was a need in the community for the new pediatric facility.

“The closest pediatric urgent care is Kansas City and so a lot of our patients were traveling to Kansas City just to get pediatric specialists,” Castle said. “and so we saw a big need for kids in this area.”

The new facility is open to all children aged newborn to 18-years, even if they are not a current patient of Downing Pediatrics.

The urgent care will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays.

Walk-in patients will be accepted, however, the facility prefers that patients schedule an appointment ahead of time.
