Mosaic Life Care hosted an event Tuesday evening at Ricky Dean’s for the St. Joseph community to meet Mosaic caregivers and to welcome international nurses who have joined the Mosaic organization.

One nurse recruiter said it was a long process getting the 35 international nurses to St. Joseph.

”We actually started this process immediately after COVID, ya know, we just recognized that we really needed to branch our recruiting efforts out and start looking, literally everywhere,” said Dom Protzman, a nurse recruiter at Mosaic Life Care. ”All these nurses were actually hired two years ago, um and they are just now starting to arrive, we have about 35 here now and then we’ll have about 30 to 40 coming over, over the rest of the year.”

One of the international nurses who attended the event said she’s been enjoying her time in the cardiovascular care unit at Mosaic.

”I’ve been a nurse for 16 years and I’ve worked in different hospitals all across the globe, I would say,” said Jolly Camille Valiao, a registered nurse. “This is my fourth country of working.”

Valiao said she doesn’t regret her move to St. Joseph and she enjoys having access to all of her needs.

”I have Walmart and Target, Sam’s Club,” said Valiao. “I feel safe in here compared to other cities across the states that I’ve been. The airport is just an hour away, so it’s easier for me to travel whenever I wanted to.”

Valileo said she feels very welcome in St. Joseph.

”The people here are so warm and friendly I’ve never felt such a welcoming presence since I came here,” said Valileo.

Valileo said she’s been able to feel welcome at Mosaic as well, and says that everyone works well together at Mosaic.
