Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph hosted an open house on Monday to highlight Da Vinci robotic technology that the hospital has recently incorporated into its surgical practices.

Da Vinci robotics assist surgeons in performing more minimally invasive procedures instead of open surgeries.

Whitney Eliot, a representative with Da Vinci, said that with this technology, patients will be able to go home from the hospital much faster after surgery.

“Da Vinci is a surgical robotic platform where we are able to provide minimally-invasive care for patients who would otherwise maybe receive an open procedure with downstream effects of staying in the hospital longer,” Eliot said. “So it provides just a minimally invasive option for them.”

Mosaic currently has Da Vinci’s XI robot, with the newest model, DV5, being shown at the open house event.

Eliot said Mosaic has several surgeons in different specialties, ranging from OB-GYN to urology to general surgery, who already utilize the technology.
