St. Joseph residents participate in ‘HANDS OFF!’ protest

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. (News-Press NOW) -- St. Joseph residents gathered at the sidewalks along the intersection of the Belt Highway and Frederick Ave. on Saturday to peacefully protest against President Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk.
The local protest was sponsored by Persisterhood - St. Joseph and garnered over 100 attendees.
Jane Frick, one of the co-facilitators of Persisterhood in St. Joseph, said the current leadership in the country makes her mad.
"We have a crazy man in the White House being manipulated by the world's richest man who thinks he can buy and sell our country," Frick said. "We are angry."
Stephen, a protester, shared that he decided to attend the event on Saturday to support the minorities in America that have worked for equal rights.
"They've got it through blood and sweat and tears, and we've got to wake up, we've got to stand up and have our voices heard," Stephen said.
Kelly Lacina, another co-facilitator with Persisterhood - St. Joseph, said that she wants change.
"Something needs to be done," Lacina said. "Our voices need to be heard. He (Trump) needs to change his policies, he needs to put in qualified people into the White House to work for us, not against us."
Over 1,200 "HANDS OFF!" rallies and marches took place around the world on April 5.
