Those who wish to take advantage of open burning in St. Joseph are almost out of time.

Saturday, Nov. 30, is the last day yard waste can be burned in the city before next April. Burning is allowed from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and must be done in a container of no more than 55 gallons.

Fires should be at least 15 feet from any buildings and monitored at all times with a hose or container of water for extinguishing flames nearby.

Open burning can be called off due to high winds or health concerns and days will not be extended if that happens.
