About $2.7 million in upgrades are on the way for the Platte County Courthouse.

Commissioners approved a bid with Straub Construction to renovate the building, which was built in the 1860s, beginning in December. American Rescue Plan Act funding is being used for the project as part of the county’s overall plan to modernize public facilities and digitize records.

Planned upgrades include ADA modifications, bigger courtrooms to allow for increasing caseloads and other renovations to make the building more functional while preserving its historical appearance.
