By LORI PILGER – Lincoln Journal Star, Neb. (TNS)
Lincoln Police are investigating an attempted robbery late Sunday afternoon that ended with the would-be thieves shooting at an SUV with two children inside.
LPD spokesperson Erika Thomas said a 22-year-old woman had gone to The Lodge Apartments near South 48th Street and Nebraska Parkway with a man and two children just after 5 p.m. to sell AirPods she had listed for sale on Facebook.
She told police a red SUV pulled up behind her Dodge Durango, blocking her in, and two men approached, trying to open the door.
Thomas said that after the 22-year-old pulled onto the grass to try to get away, the men got in their SUV and began to chase them.
She said during the chase, someone in the red SUV fired a single gunshot, hitting the front fender, while she was driving along Old Cheney Road between 31st and 27th streets.
Thomas said the investigation is ongoing. She asked anyone with information to call Lincoln Police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600 or report a tip online at lincolncrimestoppers.com.
LPD has a designated Swap Spot at the Northwest Team substation at 1501 N. 27th St., Thomas said, where the public can meet for online sales daily between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m.
