Lincoln nonemergency number down for over an hour Saturday morning
By Lincoln Journal Star, Neb. (TNS)
The Lincoln Emergency Communications Center experienced technical difficulties Saturday morning which prevented it from receiving nonemergency calls for about an hour.
While the call center could still receive 911 emergency calls, the nonemergency line was unavailable for over an hour starting around 8 a.m.
The issue had to do with the center’s customer premise network, which is equipment the center uses to take incoming calls, said Jessica Loos, the center’s 911 director.
During the outage, calls to the nonemergency line could not be received through the center’s network provider, Loos said.
The Lincoln Police Department announced shortly after 9:30 a.m. that the center fixed the issue and both emergency and nonemergency lines were available.
During the time that the nonemergency line was down, callers had to use the backup phone line at 402-441-6300, rather than the usual number of 402-441-6000, according to the department.
