OPENING
Babygirl. The erotic thriller is back and has never been better than director Halina Reijn and star Nicole Kidman’s exploration of a woman’s dangerous journey to find her own pleasure. R. (Grand). Grade: A
A Complete Unknown. In this superb biopic, director James Mangold, star Timothee Chalamet and a superb well-chosen cast bring the legend of Bob Dylan in the early ’60s, from his folk music stardom to “going electric” in 1965. R. (Grand) Grade: A
The Fire Inside. Ryan Destiny gives a gritty performance in this true-life, grippingly downbeat boxing drama that plays like “Girlfight” meets “Air.” PG-13. (Grand). Grade: B
Nosferatu. Despite his passion for the project, or perhaps because of it, Robert Eggers’ overwrought “Nosferatu” is dead on arrival, drained of all life and choked to death on its own worship. R. Grand. Grade: C
ONGOING
Moana 2. “Moana 2” is a worthy sequel, with gorgeous animation, a thoughtful representation of Polynesian culture and another exciting adventure for the inspiring heroine. PG. (Grand, East Park, Edgewood, South Pointe). Grade: B+
Mufasa: The Lion King. Director Barry Jenkins and his team make magic with a visually dazzling and emotionally affecting coming-of-age prequel about Simba’s father, whose death traumatized an entire generation of kids in 1994. PG. (Grand, East Park, Edgewood, South Pointe). Grade: B
Sonic The Hedgehog 3. Sonic, Knuckles and Tails reunite against a mysterious villain with powers unlike anything they have faced before in the third and best installment of the animated series. PG. (Grand, East Park, Edgewood, South Pointe). Grade: B
Wicked. “Wicked” will delight fans of the stage production as a faithful adaptation that is both playful and reverent, but the first installment of the two-part film struggles to take flight. PG. (Grand, East Park, Edgewood, South Pointe). Grade: B
