The Missouri Department of Transportation announced on Monday that it has a new Deputy Director/ Chief Engineer.

Eric Schroeter was named as the new MoDOT Deputy Director and Chief Engineer on Monday, Dec. 16, replacing Ed Hassinger who was promoted to MoDOT Director in November.

“Schroeter will serve as the senior registered professional engineer responsible for preparation and approval of all engineering documents, plans and specifications with oversight of the delivery of projects from planning through design and construction,” according to the MoDOT announcement.

Schroeter has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer, he has worked for MoDOT for 32 years, with the past six of those serving as Assistant Chief Engineer.

Throughout his career, Schroeter has worked in a variety of positions such as construction, operations and design at both the district and central office management levels. Schroeter served as interim district engineer in the Central District prior to becoming the State district engineer in 2013.
