Long-planned coffee shop to open Dec. 31st with more sites to follow

By Carrie Rengers – The Wichita Eagle (TNS)

Dec. 27—Ziggi’s Coffee finally is opening in the Wichita area, first in Rose Hill at 906 N. Rose Hill Road on Dec. 31st and then at another planned site in northwest Wichita.

The chain had one false start a couple of years ago with a couple of franchisees in Maize.

Wichita Lawn Care owner Adam Frey and his cousin, who prefers not to be named, plan to open at least three of the drive-through coffee kiosks in the Wichita area, and Frey said he’s open to the other franchisees still doing one as well if they want.

Though Ziggi’s is a coffee business, Frey said he finds it interesting that 80% of the drinks the business sells are cold drinks.

That includes iced coffee, tea and energy drinks, such as Red Bull-infused frozen and iced beverages.

There also are Italian sodas and fruit smoothies.

One of Ziggi’s specialties is a spicy mocha drink, served iced, hot or blended. It also has a dedicated kid’s drink menu that lists frozen beverages with names like Cotton Candy Blender, Unicorn Punch and Frozen Campfire Cocoa.

There also are breakfast burritos as well as items such as scones, breakfast sandwiches and cinnamon rolls.

There’s no seating inside Ziggi’s, but there will be some outdoor tables with umbrellas.

Frey’s longtime former schoolmate Stephanie Wise of Commercial Collective handled the Rose Hill deal and is helping with his other deals.

Hours are 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends.

Look for a grand opening of the Rose Hill Ziggi’s on Jan. 11.

And check back for more news on the northwest Wichita site when it’s ready.
