A North Iowa man accidentally drowned in Clear Lake on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Bradley Church, 59, Joice, according to a press release from the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the intersection of North Shore Drive and East Lake Street near the aerator shortly before 4:30 p.m. after a sportsman reported seeing what he thought was a body floating in the area, the press release stated.

A drone was used to check the open water, and the report was confirmed. Crews from the Clear Lake and Ventura fire departments then recovered the body.

The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the sheriff’s office.

The Clear Lake Police Department also assisted at the scene.

No foul play is suspected, according to the sheriff’s office.
