6 arrested in Sioux County drug, gun trafficking investigation

By Nick Hytrek – Sioux City Journal, Iowa (TNS)

ORANGE CITY, Iowa — Six people were arrested Monday after a months-long investigation into suspected drug and gun trafficking in Sioux County.

Search warrants were simultaneously executed at area residences and a dairy farm, and illegal drugs and weapons were recovered. The arrests stemmed from a joint investigation by the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office and Sioux Center Police Department.

A Sioux County Sheriff’s Office news release provided no other details of the alleged offenses, and Sheriff Jamie Van Voorst could not be immediately reached for comment.

Arrested were: Efrain Ramirez, 48, of Sioux Center; Alberto Hernandez, 43, of Rock Valley, Iowa; Juan Marques, 23, of Orange City; and Gary Stallings, 45, Kandi Senski, 33, and Jehsi Boren, 29, all of Battle Creek, Iowa.

According to complaints filed in Sioux County District Court, Stallings and Senski both had been arrested in Orange City on Dec. 23 after five stolen handguns and seven stolen long guns were located inside a car they had been riding in. An online search did not show complaints on file yet for the others who were arrested.

Those arrested were booked into the Sioux County Jail on the following charges:

— Ramirez: delivery of a controlled substance, child endangerment.

— Hernandez: delivery of a controlled substance, three counts child endangerment.

— Marques: delivery of a controlled substance.

— Stallings: trafficking stolen weapons, second-degree theft, felon in possession of a firearm.

— Senski: trafficking stolen weapons.

— Boren: trafficking stolen weapons, second-degree theft, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of burglary tools.
