A Davenport woman awaiting trial for allegedly stealing from her employer has been arrested for allegedly dealing ecstasy, Bettendorf police said.

Brittney Jo Robbins, 34, is charged in Scott County District Court with one count of possession with the intent to deliver more than 5 grams of ecstasy. The charge is a Class B felony under Iowa law that carries a prison sentence of 25 years.

Robbins also is charged with violating Iowa’s drug tax stamp law, a Class D felony that carries a prison sentence of five years, and possession of a controlled substance-first offense, a serious misdemeanor that carries a jail sentence of up to one year.

According to the arrest affidavit filed by Bettendorf police officer Brian Morrisey, on Feb. 17 at 1:57 p.m. Robbins was driving a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan in the area of Middle Road and Kimberly Road in Bettendorf.

Morrisey performed a traffic stop on the vehicle and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the affidavit.

During a probable cause search of the vehicle, Morrisey found 25 pills and six half pills of suspected ecstasy, or methylenedioxymethamphetamine, often referred to as MDMA.

Also discovered in the vehicle were four “Perc-30” pills, or 0.52 grams, of suspected fentanyl.

The presence of drugs was confirmed by the Iowa State Crime Lab.

Robbins was arrested Thursday.

During her first appearance on the charges Friday in Scott County District Court, Magistrate Peter Gierut scheduled a preliminary hearing in the case for Jan. 3.

Robbins was being held Sunday in the Scott County Jail on a $25,000 bond, cash or surety.

According to Scott County District Court records, Robbins is awaiting trial on a charge of second-degree theft, a Class D felony, after she allegedly stole funds from her employer.

According to the arrest affidavit in that case filed by Davenport police detective Joshua Wehde, on June 11 detectives were sent to Rudy’s Tacos at 3944 Elmore Ave. to investigate a theft that last occurred on June 1.

Robbins was a manager at Rudy’s, according to the affidavit. She was entrusted with the collection of cash from customers at the point of sale.

Over the course of several months, Robbins would collect cash payments from customers, and then void the transactions at the register using her managerial override code. She would then pocket the cash she took. By overriding and voiding the transactions the point-of-sale system would balance at the end of the day, according to the affidavit.

Robbins was able to take $4,480.49 from the business, according to the affidavit.

She was arrested in that case on June 18. She was released the next day from the Scott County Jail on her own recognizance by Magistrate Cynthia Taylor. Robbins had to promise to appear for all court hearings to be released without posting bond. Part of the stipulations of pretrial release is that she commits no other criminal offenses.

The next hearing in Robbins’ theft case is scheduled for March 4 in District Court.
