Iowa City police investigating fatal shooting

The Iowa City Police Department has asked for the public’s help investigating a fatal shooting early Monday morning.

Police responded to a report of shots fired at 2:38 a.m. Monday in the 600 Block of S. Dodge Street, where they found a female shooting victim, according to a press release from the police department.

The victim was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased. Her name has not been released pending notification of family, the release states.

Police asked that anyone with information about the incident, or anyone with security cameras in the area, contact the department at 319-356-5275 or Iowa City Area Crime Stoppers at 319-358-8477. Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
