Charles City man pleads to federal meth, opioid charges

CHARLES CITY — A Charles City man has pleaded to federal opioid and meth charges in connection with drugs and a gun found during a 2023 search of his home.
RaMelle Lewis Williams, 52, pleaded to one count of possession of fentanyl and methamphetamine with intent to deliver on Dec. 23 in U.S. District Court in Cedar Rapids.
Sentencing will be at a later date.
According to court records, Williams sold $60 to $120 worth of cocaine to undercover informants in February, March and April 2023 in Charles City.
In April 2023, officers searched his home and found about 90 pills containing a mixture of meth and fentanyl, three bags of crack cocaine, 36 pills containing meth and a loaded 9 mm Taurus G2S pistol.
Williams has prior convictions for attempted murder and aggravated battery from Cook County, Illinois, in 1992, according to court records.
