Thomson Prison inmate found unresponsive; pronounced dead

Inmate Juan Randolfo Parrado, 64, was found unresponsive at Federal Correctional Institution Thomson at approximately 5:50 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 26.
According to a press release from the Bureau of Prisons, responding employees immediately initiated life-saving measures. These efforts continued while emergency medical services were called. Parrado was transported by EMS to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The FBI has been notified, and no employees or incarcerated individuals were injured. At no time was the public in danger.
Parrado was sentenced to a 15-year sentence for Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine, Heroin and Cocaine, and Conspiracy to Commit Laundering of Monetary Instruments. He had been in custody at Thomson since Feb. 29, 2024.
