Iowa critics give three prizes to ‘Anora’

The Iowa Film Critics Association named “Anora” Best Picture, Best Actress and Best Director in its annual polling of the state’s film critics.

“The Wild Robot” won two awards – Best Animated Feature and Best Song {“Kiss the Sky”) while “The Seed of the Sacred Fig” won the Best Foreign Language Feature.

Mikey Madison, the star of “Anora,” won the leading actress prize, while Ariana Grande (“Wicked”) and Isabella Rossellini (“Conclave”) tied for best supporting actress.

Adrien Brody, the star of “The Brutalist” won Best Actor; Kieran Culkin, the co-star of “A Real Pain,” landed the supporting actor award.

Sean Baker won Best Director for “Anora.”

The Iowa Film Critics Association includes critics in a variety of media throughout the state.
