First-time voters can learn the basics of the process at a program on Monday at the St. Joseph Library.

The program, which runs from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Downtown branch, 927 Felix St., is intended to give unbiased information about voting and what an election entails. There will be a presentation on the voting process, a simulation of an election and a mock polling station.

Those ages 14 and older are invited to attend. Participants who are 17½ and older can register to vote at the end of the program.
