Local parent teacher association celebrates its founders day with awards

St. Joseph's Parent Teacher Association celebrated its founders day with an awards banquet honoring those in education.
The event took place at Stoney Creek Hotel on Thursday evening.
Awards such as the "St. Joseph PTA Volunteer Award", "Lifetime PTA Leadership Honoree" and "Life Achievement Award" were presented to local educators.
One of the final two awards presented was the "Outstanding Unit Award, which was given to Central High School's PTA.
The most coveted award at the banquet is the "Principal of the Year Award", which was given to Bode Middle School Principal, Mark Korell.
"There's nothing better than being an educator," said Korell in his speech at the banquet. "I know there's a lot of principals and teachers here...I don't go to work everyday, I go somewhere that I love."
Numerous other staff, parents, volunteers and school board members were also honored at the event.
