SJSD responds to photo posted by staff member

St. Joseph School District officials said they are investigating and don't condone the actions of a staff member in a photo circulating on social media.
The photo posted by a St. Joseph School District custodial employee shows someone squatting over a President Donald Trump-themed Valentine's Day box created by a student at Bessie Ellison Elementary School.
In a statement sent to News-Press NOW, district officials said, "The St. Joseph Public Schools does not condone the actions of the employee in this instance or similar actions of any of our employees. Although the individual in this matter is not a teacher, the district has standards for staff conduct that apply to all employees.
"The district cannot go into any detail regarding this confidential personnel matter, but we can state that the matter is being thoroughly investigated and will be appropriately addressed once the administrative leadership has assessed the facts in this situation."
District officials did not name the employee involved, but the photo was posted by someone named Tracy Parker. Bessie Ellison's staff page lists Parker as an engineer at the school.
